Natural Gas Reciprocating Plant Construction
When constructing natural gas reciprocating plant, it is important to apply safety measures to mitigate risks involved in gas handling. Possible leaks can also cause explosion, engine, or equipment failures. The main component of a natural gas reciprocating plant is the reciprocating engine which is composed of auxiliary systems. The generator has to rotate for the engine to produce electricity. There are also multiple internal processes involved in reciprocating engine. Fuel injection and cooling water process are just some of them.
Just like gas turbine, one of the severe risks that may occur in reciprocating engines power plant is overspeed. The generator also has to be working properly because it will act as the converter of mechanical energy, which is produced by the engine. The mechanical energy will be converted to electrical energy. In terms of fuel handling system, it can be on gaseous or liquid fuels. Its effect on fuel storing and supporting auxiliaries will also depend on its setup.
